Obituary for Kathryn Lynne "Kathy" Anderson
Kathryn Lynne “Kathy” Anderson, 49, of Brookings, went home to be with her Lord on June 9, 2013. Kathy was born December 28, 1963 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in music from San Diego State University. She moved to Brookings in 2004 where she was a member of the First Baptist Community Church. Kathy brought a very special joy to those she met along her brief journey. She will long be remembered for her very gifted musical talent, her love of children, her wit, and her love for the Lord. Kathy also enjoyed doing word games like Scrabble and Boggle. We rejoice with her homecoming and are happy that she is finally out of the pain she bore for the past 25 years. Survivors include her mother Sharron Johnston and her husband, Jim of Brookings, father Fred Anderson and his wife, Bobbie of Palm Desert, Calif., sister Kristen Anderson and her fiancé Michael Roe of Boulder Creek, Calif., brother Mark Anderson and his wife, Renee of Orange, Calif., nephew Scott and niece Rachael, aunt Anita Acree and family, uncles Wally and Danny Larson and their families, half sisters Stephanie Seals, her husband Steve and their family, Beverly Bruchard, her husband Jim and their family, and many other cousins and family members. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at First Baptist Community Church, 607 Pacific Avenue in Brookings. Pastor Ken Whitted will officiate. A reception will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family would love to have Bibles donated in Kathy’s honor through the Gideon Ministry; cards are available at local churches or online at www.gideons.org.
