Obituary for Felix Castellanos
Felix Castellanos May 13, 1927 - April 10, 2010 Felix Castellanos passed away in Gold Beach, OR on Sat., April 10, 2010. He was 82. Felix was born May 13, 1927 in San Francisco, CA to Justin and Carmen (Ortega) Castellanos. He grew up and spent most of his life in the Bay Area. Felix served in the US Navy. Following an honorable discharge, he returned to the Bay Area where he attended UC Berkeley and earned a bachelor's in real estate. He owned and operated his own real estate appraisal business for more than forty years working with state government valuing lands for highway construction. He retired to Brookings, OR in 1999. Felix enjoyed sailing and was a member of the Berkeley Yacht Club. He also enjoyed the outdoors and had an adventurous spirit from parasailing to exotic foods. Felix was a member of the American Society of Appraisers. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Audrey Castellanos of Escalon, CA, son, David Castellanos of Smith River, CA, grandchildren, Carly Moreno and her husband, Dario, Erik Castellanos and his wife, Carley, Nicolas Castellanos, Deidra Castellanos and David A. Castellanos, great grandchildren, Melissa, Mason, Nathan, Kira and Kali. Felix was preceded in death by a half brother, Frankie Castellanos. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 6:30pm at Macklyn House, 755 Elk Dr. in Brookings. Pastor Ken Whitted will officiate. Refreshments will follow there.
