Obituary for Hermine "Terry" Shropshire
Former longtime Gold Beach resident Terry Shropshire passed away in Brookings on October 18, 2013. She was 78. Terry was born January 14, 1935 in Neuburg an der Donau, Germany to Hugo Maier and Fanny Kollmansberger. She grew up there until immigrating to New York in the late 1950’s. She returned to Germany briefly before permanently moving to Gold Beach, OR in 1961. Terry worked as a waitress and bartender at various local restaurants in Gold Beach. She loved being outdoors when the sun was shining. She also liked to garden, go fishing and watch game shows. Survivors include her daughter Melissa Stevens-Stangl and her husband Phillip of Lompoc, Ca, son Ralf Stevens and his wife Kat of Idaho, grandchildren, Zoe, Meghan, Abigail, Maddison and Emma Stangl, Jared, Joel, Jennifer and Jessica Stevens, sister Adi Alterio of Gold Beach and nephew, Rudy Maier of Gold Beach. Terry was preceded in death by a sister Lesle Lumpkins and brothers, Mandy and Rudi Maier. At her request, no ceremony will be held.
