Obituary for Carl M. Blue
Carl M. Blue Jan. 4, 1934 – April 15, 2011 Carl M. Blue passed away at his home in Harbor, OR on April 15, 2011. He was 77. Carl was born in Falmouth, Mich. on January 4, 1934 to Jacob and Mildred (Lewis) Blue. He grew up and attended school there. Following seven years of service in the Michigan National Guard, Carl lived in various locations in the southwest, eventually settling in California where he began what would be a 27-year career as a driver with Greyhound. While driving for Greyhound, he also owned and operated a gravel dump truck. After retirement, he worked part time as a driver for Amtrak in Redding, CA. It was there that he met Marilyn Quintana; the two fell in love and were married June 20, 1997 in Anderson, CA. They enjoyed traveling before settling in Harbor, OR in 1999. Carl enjoyed watching football, playing golf, traveling, boating and NASCAR racing. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Blue of Harbor, sons, Kirk Blue and Ronald Blue, both of Redding, CA, stepchildren, Georgene Zambrano of Inglewood, CA, Michael and Daniel Quintana, both of Redding, CA and Janelle Rivers of Chico, CA, sister, Frances Blue-Steele of Arvada, CO, and several grandchildren. Carl was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Marie, and brothers, Bill and Merlin Blue. A celebration of Carl’s life will be held on May 28, 2011 from 1-4 pm at Driftwood Estates Clubhouse, 16063 Driftwood Lane, Harbor, Oregon. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to all the friends and Home Health and Hospice caregivers.
