Obituary for Charles William "Chuck" Sallander
Charles was born in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, to Richard R. Sallander and Georgina Woods.
He went to school in San Pedro, California, and graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in forestry tech.
He was a member of the U.S. Navy from July 6, 1962, to September 5, 1967, Rank YN3. He spent 30 years with the U.S. Forest Service in Oregon. He enjoyed volunteering at the Elks Lodge, where he was a member, as well as projects around the house, and his great love, the Chicago Bears.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Sallander; daughter, Kim Szalkiewecz (Mark) of Escondido, California; sons, Travis Sallander of Brookings, Aaron McCord (Misty) of Doha, Quitar; brother, Don Sallander (Bonita), Wisconsin; and sister, Roberta Knight (Randy), Wisconsin.
He also leaves behind several grandchildren, Matthew, Nicholas, and Daniel Szalkiewecz, Tamlyn Sallander, Morgan, Rhyleigh and Khyron McCord. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard R. Sallander and Georgina Woods, his brother, Edward Sallander (Linda).
Services will be held at the Brookings Elks Lodge #1934 on March 2, at 11 a.m.
