Francena Esther “Nan” Badger
Francena “Nan” Badger of Brookings died peacefully on the morning of August 24, 2016 at the age of 92. Nan was born in Massachusetts on March 1, 1924 to Charles and Esther Bradbury. She graduated from Walpole High School in 1941 and married her high school sweetheart, Benjamin Franklin Badger III on her 18th birthday and had 64 years together until Ben’s passing. Nan gave birth to her only son, Lance in 1946. The Badger family moved to California in 1953 where Nan was a homemaker for several years before working for Culligan water softener company for several years in Los Gatos, Ca. They moved to Crescent City, Ca in the early 1980s and after her husband’s death, she moved to Brookings, Oregon to be closer to many family members. Nan will be missed, and is survived by her son, Lance, and daughter, Jill, one granddaughter, Ember Star Overlin, four grandsons, Wade, Brad, Ben and Jesse Badger, eight great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. Cremation is under the direction of Redwood Memorial Chapel and her ashes, and her husband Ben’s ashes will be scattered together at sea at a later date.
