Obituary for Robert Lee Dietz
Robert Lee Dietz, 83, of Harbor, OR passed away at his home on August 10th after battling health issues. Robert (Bob) was born in Colome, SD on April 21, 1933 to Carl and Florence Dietz as the youngest of 7 children (youngest of the second hatching).
Bob moved to Lodi with his family in 1935 where he attended local schools, graduating from Lodi Union High School in 1951.
After graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and was sent to Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX for basic training, and later was station at McGuire AFB in Trenton, NJ. He received his honorable discharge as an Airman First Class in 1955. After leaving the service, he returned to Lodi and began working with his uncle Con at Lodi Plumbing and Heating. Bob joined the Plumber and Pipe Fitters Union (U.A. Local 492, now 442) in 1956, and worked for George F. Schuler until his retirement on June 30, 1992.
Bob married Alice Bauer of Lodi in 1957 and had two children, Doug of Lodi, CA and Ed of Folsom, CA. He married Sandy Fehling of Lodi in 1971. Bob and Sandy were married for 45 years, spending the last 21 years in Harbor, enjoying fishing, the Oregon coastline, the Oregon Ducks, and his cat, Quinn.
Bob had an incredible sense of humor, was caring, kind, and could tell a story with the best of them. For Bob, life was GOOOOOD. He was a jack of all trades, helping anyone who asked. He made everyone he met feel loved and special and he was loved just as much in return.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Roland and Don, sisters Ethel Robba, Lucille Loftus, Norma Seavey and Carleen MacLeod.
He is survived by his wife Sandy, sons Doug (Kim) and Ed, his grandkids Rob and Delaney, and several nieces and nephews.
There will not be a memorial service. Burial will be at sea. Donations can be made to C.C.’s Clothes for Cancer, P.O. Box 3078, Harbor, OR 97415. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
