Bill Strube passed away May 11, 2024. He was born November 29, 1948, to Roy and Edith Strube in Tacoma, Washington. He graduated from Bethel High School. Upon graduation, he jumped in his Chevelle and headed out on the road: Destination, New Orleans. He loved to travel and had many fun moments to share.
In 1971, he married Rosemary Reed Bachman and became an instant father of three great kids: Greg, Brian and Marcie. His family knew him as a fun, loving, hard-working husband and father. He had a great sense of humor and woke up each day with a smile. The family loved board games and just being together. He loved being a father and cheering on the kids in sports. Becoming a Grampa was fun for him as he had such fond memories of his own grandparents.
He was employed by ILWU Local 23 as a longshoreman in the early 1970’s and was promoted to Foreman Local 98 in 1993. He transferred to Foreman Local 94 in Long Beach, California in 1998. He retired in 2004 due to a hip replacement and moved to Green Valley, Arizona, where his passion truly grew for golfing (while limping). He had a terrific group of fellow golfers. His buddies called him Mr. Lucky. He was proud of his hole-in-one.
Bill loved rock and roll music, attending concerts, sports, camping with family and fishing as well as golf and traveling. Bill’s last major trip was in November and December 2023, traveling around Europe with son Greg. He previously joined him in Greece and travelled to Egypt to tour the pyramids.

In 2019, tired of the heat, he moved to Brookings, Oregon. Bill loved playing cribbage, and most games. He learned pinochle here. He quickly made friends with so many wonderful people and thoroughly enjoyed playing cards, even going to Crescent City for more cribbage.
Bill is survived by his wife, Rosemary Strube; sons: Greg (Monya) Bachman and Brian Bachman. He is also survived by sister Ellen Henderson and brother David Strube (Angela Millette); granddaughters: Lauren Bachman, Morgan Lewton (Mike), Aidan McClincy (Martiñ Llamas) and great granddaughter Hendrix Llamas. He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved daughter Marcie Bachman, granddaughter Carrisa Bachman and grandson Brady Bachman.
To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die.
