Obituary for Willa "Boots" Roppe
Willa “Boots” Jeannine Bentzen Roppe, born Sept. 27th 1931 in La Crosse Wisconsin to Willard Bentzen & Ruth Sivesind, passed away Dec. 14th 2014 in Brookings Oregon. Boots graduated from High School in La Crosse & remained there until she met & married Milton Roppe in 1958 & they left Wisconsin moving to their log home in Eagle River Alaska. In 1963 they moved back to La Crosse & over the next 20 years lived in various places in Minnesota. After retiring, they spent the next several years traveling the states in their RV & settling in Brookings in 2000. Boots has spent the last 15 years around the Curry Good Samaritan Center, first while husband Milt was under their care & then for the past 8 years as a resident herself. Boot’s days at Good Sam were so good to her, she was very active. On the Resident Council, calling bingo, group outings, cooking & crafts in the activity center & even hosting Trivia with Boots for her fellow residents. She was truly a friend to staff & patients & the love returned to her by those same people was boundless. Willa is survived by her brothers Wayne & Wade Bentzen, son, Deane Roppe, daughter Jannet Langemo, grandchildren, Marshal, James, Kjersten, Amanda & Brady & 10 great grandchildren. There will be an informal resident memorial service held at a later date at Curry Good Sam.
