Obituary for Wesley G. Moorhead
Wesley G. Moorhead, of Brookings, passed away in Medford, Ore. on July 10, 2012 after a battle with cancer. He was 71. Wes was born June 7, 1941 in Fairfield, Calif., the only child of Wesley A. and Sybil (Wilson) Moorhead. He grew up in various towns in the Sacramento area. Wes entered the US Army during the Vietnam War. He did two tours in Vietnam, earning 3 Bronze Stars for his service. He later served in the National Guard retiring as a Captain in 1995. During his military service, Wes attended college and earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Colorado. He married Malynn Cox in Folsom, California on August 12, 1978. Follow his retirement from the military; Wes worked as a forklift operator for Blue Diamond Growers. He and Malynn moved to Brookings in August of 2010. Wes enjoyed reading, investing in the stock market, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Brookings chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America. Survivors include his wife, Malynn Moorhead of Brookings, daughter, Jamie Thompson, her husband, Mike and their children Bobbie Jo, Allyn and Lilly of Sacramento, sister-in-law, Corby Cox of Sacramento. Wes was preceded in death by his son, Kelly in 1979. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
