Obituary for Wade Clark Jones
Wade Clark Jones passed away peacefully at home with friends and family. He had been ill for several months but maintained a strong spirit until the very end. He will be forever missed by those who knew him. Wade was born in Oklahoma City, OK and was raised in Tulsa until graduation from high school in 1959. After moving to the Bay Area in 1960 with his parents, Wade and his family lived in San Jose, and then in the Los Angeles area while working for IBM. He started working for the computer giant in 1960, and was fortunate to have retired from IBM at a young age. He had seen the computer industry take its place as an indispensible part of our society, and in 1987, it was Wade’s time to retire and to enjoy life. Wade loved photography, painting, cooking, and reading a book while sitting by the ocean. He was a passionate and private man who took his hobbies quite seriously; so living close to his beloved ocean, where seafood and fresh ingredients allowed him to enjoy his good fortune every day was exactly where he was supposed to be. His spirit soared when he could combine these favorite things to his daily life. He also loved to travel, drive through his favorite forests and national parks; always looking for a back road to explore; a love of the outdoors made him a true naturalist at heart. He enjoyed his pets, walking the family poodle, Sammy, for as long as he was able. He loved to work in his rose garden and took great pride in the variety of roses he had here in Brookings. He loved to watch the NFL, loved movies, music, and was a voracious reader all of his life. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jeannette Bone Jones; his sister, Denise Lynne Jones and her partner, Charlotte Yvonne Davis of Murrieta, CA; his Aunt, Lois Lorene Clark of Tucson, AZ; his uncle-in-law, Edward Owen and his aunt-in-law, Laurie Owen, both of Chicago, IL; his brother-in-laws, Steven Bone and Ed Bone; his father-in-law, Bill Bone and mother-in-law, Shelley Juster Bone all from Kalispell, MT. Other surviving family members are: two children, 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins in Texas, Oklahoma, Chicago, and California. He was preceded in death by his maternal Uncle, Walter Samuel Clark, 2006; his mother-in-law, Jean Baker Bone, 2006; his maternal cousin, David Arthur Clark, 2009; and both parents, Stratton Lavern Jones, 2002, and LeDell Clark Jones, 1988. As was Wade’s request, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Brookings Community SPCA. Memorial arrangements will be announced at a later date.
