Obituary for Virginia McKinney
Virginia McKinney of Gold Beach, OR, passed away on March 18, 2014. She was born in Lavaca, Arkansas, to Lloyd and Ila Wilson Craft.
Virginia grew up in Arkansas. She spent time in Germany, California, and other areas of Oregon before settling in Gold Beach in 1991.
She enjoyed fishing, shopping, travel, needlepoint, and cooking. She loved to cook and go to dinner parties with those closest to her. Virginia could usually be found at her business, Jots Resort. She took great pride in her business and made uncountable friendships with people she met there. Most of all she loved her family her sons, grandchildren, and the many friends she made over the years.
Prior to Virginia being in the hospitality industry, she was a real estate broker for Seven Cities Real Estate in Carmel, Calif. She received many awards and honors through her careers; however, she was very proud of making the Million Dollar Club during her real estate career back when a Million Dollars was a lot of money.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Gentry McKinney and her father, Lloyd Craft. She is survived by her mother, Ila Wilson Craft (Lavaca, Ark.), son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Sheryl Waller (Gold Beach, Ore.); son, Dean McKinney (Grants Pass, Ore.); son James Waller (Nomad); sister, Rachael Craft (Lavaca, Ark.); brother, Bob Craft (Lavaca, Ark.); sister, Ruby Pearce (Charleston, Ark.), grandson, Sam Waller III (Carmel, Calif. and Gold Beach, Ore.); granddaughter, Tara McKinney (Grants Pass, Ore.); great-grandson, Bronson McKinney (Grants Pass, Ore.), and her two favorite cousins Helen Wilson Jones and Shirley Wilson (Arkansas).
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Rogue River Cemetery, Hunter Creek Loop in Gold Beach. Please bring your favorite potluck style dish and join Virginias family and friends at the Event Center (Gold Beach Fairgrounds) after her service for her celebration of life.
Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
