Susan ”Sue” Peterson May 21, 1943-April 12, 2011 Susan Peterson, 55, of Brookings, died April 12, 2011. Sue was born May 21, 1954, in East Los Angeles. She was an all-star athlete in track and field. She held the record for the fastest time in the 3,000-meter run. She loved all sports, favoring the game of baseball. Sue is survived by her two sons Thomas Robert Munyon, 27, and Lawrence Ray Munyon, 26. She was a loving mother not only to her own, but extended that love to all. Sue touched the lives of many people. She is loved by us all and will be dearly missed. We will always remember the motto she lived by: “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intent of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, coffee in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, “Whoo hoo, what a ride.” A wake will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at the VFW Post 966, 507 Pacific Ave.
