Obituary for Steve R. Carlson
Steve Richard Carlson died peacefully at home with loving family around him on Wednesday December 24, 2013 in Brookings, Oregon. Steve was born on April 14, 1956 at Chico, California, to parents Richard and Carol Carlson. He was raised in Chico, graduating from Chico High School. Steve started his working career washing dishes at Mr. Steak and later became manager. He then changed careers, working at Jessup Door stacking blocks, working his way up to Supervisor before the plant closed in Chico. Steve then moved to Medford to work at the White City plant in 1991. That is where he retired from in 2005 and moved to Brookings, Oregon. Steve loved life going on cruises, camping, being outdoors, fishing with his grandparents, the oceans & rivers around Oregon, animals – especially his dogs & being the #1 fan of the San Francisco Giants & 49ers. Steve is survived by his best friend of 33 years Rose Kafader, brothers Brian (Joy) and Dan (Madeline) of Paradise, CA; two nephews Darwin & Daniel Carlson, aunts Jane Cramer of Chico and Marilyn Bloedell of Minneapolis, Minn, brother-in-law Gene (Donetta) Kafader of Kimberly, Idaho; sisters-in-law Bonnie (Bob) Guillory of San Jose, CA, Joyce Kafader of Daly City, CA; Joann (Danny) Houck of Red Bluff, CA; Susan (Dave) Alexander of Corning, CA , plus many other nieces, nephews and cousins. Steve’s mom preceded him in death in 2000 and his dad in 2006. A celebration of life will take place Saturday Jan. 4, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at the VooDoo Lounge, 16362 Lower Harbor Road, Harbor. Everyone is welcome to join our potluck. Steve will be greatly missed by all especially Rose, and by his dog, Gretta.
