Obituary for Sharon P Mortensen
Sharon P. Mortensen passed away in Gold Beach on January 20, 2012 following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 61. Sharon was born July 8, 1950 in Salinas, Calif. to Harold and Laura (Roybal) Mortensen. She grew up there. Sharon spent several years working for the Pendleton Woolen Mill as a designer and attended Portland Community College where she earned an Associate’s degree. She became a teacher’s assistant for special needs children in the Portland Public Schools. Sharon became known as “guru” with special needs children for her ability to work with them. She also enjoyed crafts, making purses and wallets that she would sell at the crafter’s markets. Most of all, though, Sharon loved her family, especially her granddaughter Addy. Survivors include her son, Joshua Mortensen, his fiancée Yana and their daughter Addy of Beaverton, OR, mother, Laura Dischner of Milwaukie, OR, brothers, Dennis Shannon and his wife, Andrea of Gold Beach, Don Mortensen of Portland, Doug Dischner of Fountain Valley, CA, sister, Sheryl Dischner of Portland, OR. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 2036 SE Jefferson St., Milwaukie, Oregon.
