Sharon Kaye (Burford) Moreno, 71, passed away on January 2, 2013 in Brookings. She was born in Galesburg, Ill. to Joe and Virginia (Evans) Burford. The family moved to California in 1957 and Sharon graduated from Morningside High School in 1959. Shortly after that she married Al Moreno and they had a son and daughter. Sharon and Al divorced several years later and she eventually moved to Northern California and then to the Kent, Washington area. She worked for State Farm agencies in both places. She retired early to help care for her mother and later moved to Pelican Perch Apartments and enjoyed the activities they had. She especially liked working jigsaw and crossword puzzles, watching TV and reading. Sitting by the ocean was one of her favorite things to do. She had many friends and she will be missed by them and her family. Sharon is survived by her son, Mark Moreno and his wife, Linnea of Woodenville, Wash., her daughter, Elizabeth Moreno of E. Palo Alto, Calif. and her sister, Bonnie Snyder of Gold Beach. At Sharon’s request, there will be no services following cremation.
