Obituary for Shannon Raye Quinton
Shannon Raye Quinton, 29, passed away from natural causes at her home in Brookings on May 8, 2014. She was born February 1, 1985 in Gold Beach, Ore. to Allen and Catherine (Blunt) Quinton. She was raised in Brookings and attended Brookings Harbor High School where she excelled in soccer and basketball. Following graduation, Shannon moved to Eugene where she worked for Marie Callendar’s Restaurant. In 2011, she returned to Brookings where she worked with her mom at Blue Water Café and Lounge. Shannon loved watersports, including wakeboarding and skiing, and snowboarding in the winter. She also liked to ride horses and was an avid Oregon Ducks fan. She had a creative side which included writing poetry and, most recently, art and crafts. Her family remembers her as a fun-loving and compassionate person; she will be greatly missed. Shannon leaves behind her mom, Cathy Quinton of Brookings, dad, Allen Quinton of Brookings, brother, Tim Quinton of Palmer, Alaska, aunts and uncles, Patty and Myron Parke of Brookings, Mary and Dan Kondak of Eugene, Ore., Lonnie and Betty Blunt of Burney, Calif., Jim and Theresa Blunt of Sonora, Calif., Richard Blunt of Sonora, Calif., grandfather, Garry Downing of Smith River, Calif., cousins, Lauren Kondak, Michael and Tyler Parke, Zack Blunt, Chris Blunt, his wife, Dana and their children Jadenn and Edenn. Shannon was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dick and Margaret Blunt, Flossie Downing, and beloved cousin, Patrick Kondak. The family wishes to thank Coastal Home Health & Hospice for all of the compassionate care they provided in Shannon’s final days. The family wishes to honor her memory by requesting any memorial contributions be made to Coastal Home Health & Hospice, PO Box 493, Gold Beach, OR 97444. A celebration of Shannon’s life will be at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Redwood Memorial Chapel, 1020 Fifield St. in Brookings. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
