Obituary for Samuel "Sam" Joseph Arab III
Samuel Joseph Arab III, 45, passed away from natural causes at his home in Crescent City, Calif. on May 4, 2015. Sam, as family and friends knew him, was born February 6, 1970 in Crescent City to Samuel, Jr. and Brenda (Strother) Arab. He grew up in Crescent City where he was active on the wrestling team in high school. Following high school, Sam enlisted in the US Army, serving honorably during the Gulf War. His meritorious service earned Sam several awards including three Army Achievement Metals and French Commando award. Following his military service, Sam returned to Crescent City for a short time before heading to Eureka where he completed one year of college. He later moved to Willits where he married and bore two children. Sam returned to Crescent City in 2007 where he continued his work as a deisel mechanic of more than 25 years, most recently for Snoozie Shavings. Sam loved football and watching his favorite team: the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed fishing, shooting, 4x4ing, camping, hiking spending time with family and helping others. Survivors include his mother, Brenda Arab of Crescent City; son, Samuel Arab IV of Pittsburg, Calif., daughter, Rebekah Arab of Willits, Calif.; brothers, Mark Arab of Crescent City, Calif., Justin Arab of El Paso, Texas, sister, Jennifer Navarro and her husband, Jesse of Elk Grove, Calif., Rachel Achziger of Crescent City, Calif. Sam was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Arab, Jr. A memorial service was held. Private inurnment was at the Del Norte County Veterans’ Cemetery. Redwood Memorial Care is assisting the family.
