Obituary for Roy Al Christoffersen
Roy Al Christoffersen January 23, 1938 – July 23, 2017
Port Orford resident Roy Al Christoffersen went home to the Lord on July 23, 2017 at the age of 79.
Roy was born on January 23, 1938 in Kodiak, Alaska to his proud parents Emil & Annie Christoffersen. He was one of 17 children. He loved the outdoors, frequently fishing, hunting rabbit, ducks and ptarmigan. He would talk about gathering seagull eggs for breakfast with his brothers and sisters. When he was 18, he enlisted in the United States Army. While there he traveled overseas to France, Germany, and South Korea.
At the age of 21 he returned home to the great state of Alaska where began helping his father on the fishing vessel Saleaf. He spent a number of years in and out of the fishing industry, never straying too far from the ocean.
In 2011 he moved to Port Orford to be with his son and grandchildren whom he loved so dearly. Nothing made him happier than putting smiles on their faces. He will be greatly missed, but not forgotten. He is survived by his son Michael and his wife Kelly, and three grandchildren.
A Celebration of Roy’s life will be held Friday August 4th at 1 o’clock pm at the Port Orford Cemetery on Cemetery Loop Road. Immediately following Roy’s service there will be a gathering at Pitches East in Port Orford.
