Obituary for Robert Gene Richardson
Robert Gene Richardson Jan. 17, 1941 – Oct. 8, 2018 Robert Gene Richardson was born January 17, 1941 at Effingham, Illinois to Ulis Gene and Betty L. (Bradford) Richardson. After High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy from Decatur, Illinois in 1962 and served in Vietnam on an attack transport. He was honorably discharged at San Francisco, California in 1968. Robert married Barbara Marie Azevedo on June 6, 1964 at Modesto, CA. Robert was Vice-President of the Madera Mixers Square Dancers and Advertising Director of KrossRoads SquareRama in Fresno, California. He was employed for 30 years in the hardwood flooring industry as a salesman in Central California. After moving to Gold Beach, he became advertising director of St. Charles Men’s Club whose purpose is to raise funds to assist the needy. Robert was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America. Robert is survived by his wife Barbara of Gold Beach; daughter Bonnie Hutcherson and her husband Ron of Tulare, California; son Brian Richardson and his wife Sara of Billings, Montana; brother, H. Ray Richardson and step-mother Joye Richardson of Madera, California; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Gold Beach, preceded by a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. Robert will be interred with military honors at 3 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point, OR. The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church or the charity of your choice. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
