Obituary for Robert Edward Engeldinger
Robert Edward Engeldinger, 93, passed away peacefully at his home in Brookings, OR. Robert was born June 30, 1922 in Alberta, Canada to Lester and Sylvia (Rhodes) Engeldinger. In January 1946, he married Doris E. Lansing who died in December 1996. They had four children. Robert married Dorothy “Dottie” Jean Gilbert in Placerville, CA on April 18, 1998. They moved to Brookings in 2002. Robert served in the US Army Infantry from 1941 to 1945 in the South Pacific. He worked as an electrician for 32 years and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for over 60 years. Robert was also a member of the VFW, the Elks and the Moose. Robert enjoyed woodworking, golfing, restoring vintage automobiles, dancing and traveling. He visited every state and also traveled internationally. Robert and Dottie loved dancing and cruising. They cruised and danced their way to Antarctica, Alaska, Europe and the Caribbean. He is survived by his wife Dottie, Brookings, OR; his sister, Jean Andersen, Spokane, WA; His children - Fred Engel (Kathleen), Sun Prairie, WI, Joyce Dunn (Robert) Sacramento,CA, Lance Engeldinger (Trudy) Lafayette, CA, and Lynn Hagan (Dean) Pauls Valley, OK; His stepchildren - Teri McGregor, Brookings, OR, Rodney McGregor (Yvonne), Summersville, MO, Mark McGregor (Judy) Somerset, CA. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren and 9 step great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his beloved pooch Gigi. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and brother Wendell Engeldinger. Services will be private.
