Obituary for Robert D. Ferguson
Robert D. Ferguson of Brookings, Ore., passed away at his home on Oct. 26, 2014. He was 79 years old. Robert was born Sept. 9, 1935 in Newman, Calif., to Randolph and Eleanor (Davis) Ferguson. He grew up in Newman, and joined the U.S. Navy at an early age, where he served his country honorably. Prior to moving to Brookings, he called Chiloquin, Ore. his home for over 25 years. Robert was a hardworking man who was a self-employed heavy equipment operator in the construction industry. He was very proud of and devoted to his career. Robert was also a private pilot with his own plane; he loved to fly. He was an outdoor sportsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Robert is survived by his significant other Barbara Fitch; his children, daughter Sharon Burns and her husband Steve of Napa, Calif.; son Rick Volpi and his wife Cindy of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; and daughter Carol Manning of Napa, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Coastal Home Health and Hospice, PO Box 6042, Brookings, OR 97415. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
