Obituary for Robert "Bob" Currie
Robert “Bob” Currie Nov. 3, 1932-Feb. 3, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Robert A. Currie announces his passing on Feb. 3, 2018, at the age of 85.
He was born Nov. 3, 1932, in Washington D.C. to Daniel J. and Bertha T. (Mack) Currie.
Bob served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1951 to 1954 as an aviation machinist mate. Following his service, he drove buses for Greyhound. He sold real estate in the Washington, D.C. area in the early 1970s. He became the senior field-test engineer for Alstrom/General Railway Signal from 1978 to 1997. His employment took him along the East Coast from New York and Maryland to Virginia and Georgia. After his retirement from Alstrom/GRS, he moved to Brookings, and started Boardwalk Mail Services. He sold that business and officially retired about a decade ago.
Bob is survived by his partner Vicky O’Hara, of Brookings; children Joan (William) Tavel and, Patricia (Danny) Welch, of Brookings, Judy Ann McKaig of Pennsylvania, Gilbert Offenbacker of Arkansas and Gregory Offenbacker of Alabama; Bob will also be fondly remembered by his 19 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Bob was predeceased by his brother John Currie of San Bernardino, California. He will always be remembered by his family as the Boogeyman. His great-grandchildren called him Boogie!

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at Brookings Elks Lodge 1934, 800 Elk Dr., Brookings, OR 97415. A potluck reception will follow. Guests are requested to bring their favorite dish to share.
