Obituary for Robert B. Pinkel
Robert B. Pinkel, 66, passed away at his home in Gold Beach, Ore. on July 24, 2015. Robert was born April 18, 1949 in Medford, Ore. to Robert and Opal (Grove) Pinkel. He lived Rogue River, Oregon until 1958 when the family moved to Gold Beach. Robert joined the US Navy on August 6, 1968 and served for 4 years. Following an honorable discharge, he returned to Gold Beach where he worked International Paper and as the Harbor Master for the Port of Gold Beach and, most recently, as a truck driver with A & M Transportation. Robert served as a Boy Scout Scoutmaster and volunteered for Curry County Search and Rescue. He enjoyed operating ham radios and building and operating remote control airplanes; he also loved hunting, fishing, camping, riding motorcycles and driving his Corvette. Survivors include his daughter, Cassie Lynn Gardner of Boise, Idaho, sister, Loreen and Gary Christiance of Veneta, Oregon, and two grandchildren, a brother-in-law Bill Herniesen of Aumsville, Oregon, nephews, Bobbie Herniesen of Keiser, Oregon, Donnie Herniesen of Hood River, Oregon, David Herniesen of Manersdorf, Austria, Tyler Christiance of Veneta, Oregon, neice Amy Christiance Tully of Veneta, Oregon. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister Mary Margaret Herneisen. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
