Richard Lyle McCloskey passed away on April 26, 2017. He was 57.
Richard was born on September 11, 1959 in Crescent City, California to Marjorie and Gale Smith. He graduated from Brookings-Harbor High School in 1977.
Richard married Diana Vines in 1981 and later moved with his wife and children to Eugene. Richard was known for his laugh, generosity, and hard work. He took great pride in his work and loved the outdoors, taking pictures of scenery, hunting, clam digging, and most recently playing with his grandchildren. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Tidewater at the time of his passing.
Richard is survived by his wife, Diana; daughters Casey Stratton and husband Jason, Courtney McCloskey, MacKenzie Thompson and husband AJ; sons Clinton McCloskey, Paul McCloskey; grandchildren BreeAnn, Sierra, Jacob, Andie, Cash, Harlee; father Gale Smith and wife Vickie Smith; brother Todd McCloskey; and other close relatives. He is preceded in death by his mother Marjorie McCloskey, step father Arthur McCloskey, and brother Artie McCloskey.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Blue Water at their new location in the Harbor Shopping Center.
