Obituary for Richard L. Stapley
Richard L. Stapley March 7, 1939-July 2, 2010 Richard L. Stapley, 71, of Brookings, passed away July 2, 2010, in Crescent City, Calif. Richard was born March 7, 1939, in Tempe, Ariz., to Glenn and Olive (Ellis) Stapley. He grew up there and in Camp Verde, Ariz. Richard married Judith Dill April 21, 1957, in Phoenix. They moved to Redding, Calif., in 1963 where Richard was employed at A-1 Radiator Service and eventually became owner. He operated the business for 25 years before retiring. In 1988, the couple moved to Brookings. Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in the yard. He was a true handyman and a creative crafts-project partner with his wife. What he loved more than anything was spending time with his family. When his family was present he glowed with happiness. He was so loved by them. Survivors include his wife, Judith of Brookings; sons Martin Stapley and his wife Shari of Redding, Scott Stapley and his partner Rupert Kinnard of Portland; daughters Melani Hullette and her husband Gene of Redding, Julie Stapley of Redding; grandchildren Jason, Timothy, Christopher and David Hullette, Crystal Ann Stapley; step-grandchildren Terry Strange, Aaron Keeran and Crystal Johnson; great-grandchildren Jacqueline Hullette,Trenton Keeran and Lily Vaughn; brother Hugh Stapley of Texas. Richard was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Stapley and a grandson, Martin Stapley Jr. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Redding.
