Obituary for Richard H. Tetzlaff
Richard H. Tetzlaff died in his Oregon home on his birthday, Feb. 10, 2014; he had just turned 71. Rich was born, raised and married in New York, then moved with his former wife Sherry to raise their three children in California and Reno, Nev. He later moved to Brookings, his favorite fishing town that he found during one of his many fishing trips to the Klamath and Rogue Rivers. Rich was a devoted father and grandfather—which from his first grandson being born he wanted to be called Boompa; he loved spending his time sharing his favorite activities: fishing and camping trips, love of music, cooking—the best linguine and clams, rib recipes and of course we will never forget his brown-sugared smoked salmon. If you knew our dad, you knew his dog Stoli, sweet black-and-white collie that never left his side; sadly she was in poor health and we had to put her to sleep. Her ashes will rest with our Dad's; she was 13. Rich is survived by his daughter Kate Ludwig, her husband Heath and their sons Eli and Ethan; son Scott Tetzlaff, his wife Angela and their children Nate and Odessa; and his sister, Laurie Shanholtzer and family. Preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Gina Tetzlaff and his son Robert Tetzlaff. Dad, we know you are still watching over us, it's still a dream you are gone, we love you, in all of our hearts forever. A memorial service will be held this summer at Lake Tahoe. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
