Obituary for Rev. Frederick "Fred" Zimmerman
Frederick “Fred” Zimmerman, of Brookings, passed away in Medford, Ore. on September 18, 2012. He was 73. Fred was born January 31, 1939 in Eureka, Calif. to Emil and Myrtle (Hacker) Zimmerman. He attended school in Washington and Oregon, graduating from the Canyonville Bible Academy. He continued in personal studies to become a minister and pastor Assembly of God Churches in various towns in California. Fred married Judith Spellmeyer in Eureka, Calif. on July 28, 1963. During and following his work as minister and evangelist, Fred worked as a lathe operator in different mills, including in Brookings after he and Judy moved here in 1971. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom picking, crabbing and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband and father and will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Judy, of Brookings, daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and John Ramirez of Medford, daughter, LaVonne Zimmerman of Brookings, son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Michelle Zimmerman of McCall, Idaho, grandchildren, Isabella, Geoffrey, Heather, Shawnetta, Norman, Angeline and Matt, great grandchildren, Andrew, Cailyn, Julia, Lily and one “on the way”. A graveside service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at W. J. Ward Memorial Cemetery in Brookings. Pastors Rick Green and Ronald Robertson will officiate. Interment will follow there.
