Obituary for Peggy R. Lewis
Peggy R. Lewis, 78, passed away at her home in Brookings on November 29, 2013. Peggy was born October 31, 1935 in Blachly, Ore. to John and Florence (Lincoln) Peck. In the early 1960’s, she went to work for O’Holleran’s Restaurant in Brookings. She later became manager there and had worked for over 35 years managing the restaurant before retiring in the 1990’s. She enjoyed doing crafts including beautiful Christmas tree skirts and pillows for the family and unique creations from driftwood and seashells. Peggy was also a pioneer woman and was just as comfortable crocheting as she was hunting and fishing. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Nellie Fox of Brookings, Rick and Darlene Fox of Beaverton, Ore., daughter, Cheryl Ellis of Smith River, Calif., grandchildren, Ryan (Natalie) Rettke, Kandi Rettke, Robin Fox, Laura Fox, Ame Fox, Krissy (Victor) Pelayo and Ryan Fox, fifteen great grandchildren, best friends Thelma Sarratt and Earl Koch, and her beloved dog Buster whom she called “Roberto”. Peggy was preceded in death by the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Knudsen in 2011. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at W. J. Ward Memorial Cemetery. A potluck will follow at 1:00pm at the Harbor Grange #765 in Harbor.
