Obituary for Patrick L. Toft
Patrick L. Toft July 19, 1933 – Oct. 22, 2013 Patrick L. Toft, 80, passed away at his home in Brookings, Ore. on Oct. 22, 2013. Patrick was born July 19, 1933 in Tulsa, Okla. to William and Vernie (Caroll) Arnold. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War where his duties included the transportation of Navy admirals. Patrick was a self-taught man. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t learn – and learn to do well. He taught himself how to weld and was a certified welder for most of his life. He also worked in carpentry and was employed in the sawmills in Crescent City. Patrick was a truck driver as well. He married Mary Lou Imel in Las Vegas, Nev. on Aug. 10, 1981. Patrick enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, restoring old cars, working, carpentry, trains and airplanes, bowling and shooting pool. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou of Brookings; sons, Peter Toft of Grants Pass, Michael Toft of Purdy, Wash, Patrick Toft of Purdy, Wash.; daughters, Pamela Hinrich of Laclede, Ida., Brandy Toft of Purdy, Wash.; stepson, James Cunningham of Medford, Ore.; stepdaughter, Vera Miller of Purdy, Wash.; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Patrick was preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy and Ronny Fisher, and a sister, Florence. Memorial contributions may be made to an account created to assist the family at any branch of Evergreen Federal Bank. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
