Obituary for Norman H. Clark
Norman H. Clark, 86, of Brookings passed away at his home on Jan. 15, 2014. Norman was born at home on Jan. 3, 1928 in Boise, Idaho, to Raymond and Edna (Bush) Clark. He was the fifth-born of 12 children. Norman graduated from Holcomb School in 1942, attended Boise Junior High School, and attended Boise High School from 1943 to 1945. In 1946, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served honorably until 1947. After his service, Norman finished high school and graduated in 1948. After graduation, Norman worked for the Idaho Highway Department, Oregon Highway Department, the Bureau of Reclamation, and the Missouri Highway Department. In 1967, he went to work for the U.S. Forest Service as a surveyor, where he was stationed in Walla Walla Wash., Powers, Ore., Springfield, Ore., Petersburg, Alaska, Willow Creek, Calif., and Gold Beach Ore. He retired from the U.S.F.S. in 1984. Norman married Janet Rader in Kansas City, Mo., on Sept. 16, 1961. He always made sure Janet was kept warm, as he loved to chop wood in his free time, and he thoroughly enjoyed being retired. Norman is survived by his wife Janet; brothers Dewey Clark of Wash., and Marion Clark of Calif.; sisters Dorothy Poulson of Idaho, and Irma Clark of Idaho. He is preceded in death by his parents, and seven brothers and sisters. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
