Nona Alberta Whalen passed away peacefully December 21, 2010 at Sea View Senior Community. She was 97. Nona was the child of Martha and Forrest Anthony and was born in Dennysville, ME on October 16, 1913. She later moved to Connecticut where she lived for many years. She worked as a waitress, was a homemaker and volunteered in many different areas. Nona and her husband, Joe, moved to Bandon, then Brookings, and shared a wonderful life here. She joined the Altar Society at Star of the Sea Catholic Church and volunteered at their Thrift Shop for many years. She loved black jack, cribbage, Scrabble and crossword puzzles. She was a kind, loving soul to all who knew her. We will miss our sweet angel. Nona had one daughter, Vivian Stephens of Colorado and three grandchildren, Patrick (Jeanne), Vicki (Jim), both of Colorado and Pamela (Joe) of Iowa, along with her nephews. Nona was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Alton, sister, Hazel and her husband, Joe. Viewing will be held on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010 from 10 to 11am at Star of the Sea Catholic Church. The Rosary will be said at 10:30am. Mass will be said at the Church at 11am followed by a committal service at W. J. Ward Memorial Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the graveside at the Parish Hall
