Obituary for Mildred Lorraine Burgess
Mildred Lorraine Burgess (1931 – 2018) Color Photo Mildred L. Burgess went home to be with her Lord on Monday, August 6th, 2018 at Sutter Coast Hospital surrounded by her family. A Celebration of Life will be held at Redwood Memorial Chapel, 1020 Fifield Street in Brookings, Oregon at 3 p.m. on Monday, August 13, 2018. A reception will follow at Brookings Church of the Nazarene. Mildred was born February 23rd, 1931 in La Flore County, Oklahoma to Fred and Mattie Mayberry. She moved with her family to Lakeview, Oregon in 1942. There she met Leon Burgess. They later married in Medford, OR in 1949. They moved to Brookings in 1959. Mildred was active in her church. She loved children and taught Sunday School for over 25 years. She and Leon were also Royal Ranger leaders and youth counsellors. Mildred is survived by two sons, Mickey Burgess (Donna), Brookings, OR and Ron Burgess (Ramona) of Eugene, OR; Grandchildren: Brian Burgess (Jenney) and Angi Herbison (Doug); Step-Grandchildren: Shane Sumner (Krystal), Stephanie Morthole (Brant), Danielle Hargrove (Toby), Greg Gowman (Cheri) and Gess Gowman; twenty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; sisters Shirley Davis of Coos Bay, OR and Linda Shaw of Cave Junction, OR. Mildred was preceded in death by her father Fred Mayberry, Step-dad Ewing Moore, brother Gale Moore, husband Leon Burgess, sister Babe McGaha and mother Mattie Moore. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
