Obituary for Mildred Dolores Stewart
Mildred Dolores Stewart, of Gold Beach, Ore., passed away on Friday, Feb. 28. Millie was born on March 26, 1939 in Washingon, DC. Millie was first and foremost an excellent wife and mother. From the East Coast to the West Coast she was famous for being a great friend. She enjoyed reading, playing Scrabble and talking with friends and family. Millie worked as Secretary for the Chief Justice, Bureau of Prisons for nine years before marrying. In March of 1963, Millie met Gordon Stewart of Gold Beach Oregon and they married in April, 1964 beginning a long and happy family life lived in Maryland where Gordon worked with the Defense Department until retiring to Gold Beach. Millie is survived by her husband, Gordon E. Stewart; daughter Maureen G. Filberg, her husband and three children; son Andrew G. Stewart, his wife and three children; sister, Sr. Alma Bernadette and numerous nieces and nephews. Millie is preceded in death by sisters Doris Hurley, Cecilia E. Settle and Rose Ann Kowal. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 7 at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 94323 Gauntlett St., Gold Beach, OR 97444, followed by interment at Rogue River Cemetery in Gold Beach. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Saint Charles Catholic Church or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
