Obituary for Michael A. Grogan
Michael A. Grogan, 64, passed away at his home in Brookings, Ore. on July 28, 2014. Michael was born February 11, 1950 in Montpelier, Vermont to Frederic and Virginia Grogan. Following high school, Michael enlisted in the US Army where he served honorably for two years including service in Vietnam where he earned a Purple Heart. Upon discharge, he began what would be a lifelong career as a commercial fisherman. Michael married Debra Brewer Lively in Brookings, Ore. on November 22, 2007. In addition to fishing, Michael had a “green thumb” and was very knowledgeable in botany. He also enjoyed politics. One of the highlights of Michael’s life was watching his daughter graduate from the University of Oregon. He was loved and will be missed. Survivors include his wife, Debra of Brookings; children, Larra Lively, Nicholas Davidson and his wife, Tanya, Shawn, Crystal and Brendan Grogan; brother, Rick Grogan, his wife Ellen and their daughter, Jane. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Margaret “Margie” Grogan and a niece, Lucy. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael Grogan Memorial Fund, c/o Rogue Federal Credit Union Account #1544493. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014 at the Brookings VFW Post #966, 507 Pacific Ave. in Brookings. A potluck reception will follow there.
