McKinley "Mac" W. Reed June 16, 1923 - Jan. 28, 2011 McKinley "Mac" Reed passed away at a local care facility in Brookings on January 28, 2011. He was 87. Mac was born June 16, 1923 in Lincoln, Ark. to McKinley and Bessie (Goldman) Reed. He served in the US Army Infantry near the end of WWII. Prior to that, he moved to Santa Cruz, CA where he returned after his military service and began a career in law enforcement. Mac retired as Assistant Chief of Police in 1976. He married Bertier L. Krupp in Reno, NV on July 15, 1940. Following retirement, he and Bertier traveled across North America and Mexico in their RV. They settled in Brookings in 1992. Mac loved to play his guitar and sing country songs. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Bertier of Brookings, daughters, Linda L. Vink and her husband, Pete of McAllister, MT, Donna D. Criswell and her husband, Richard of Brookings, Shirley A. Criswell and her husband, Thomas of Grants Pass, son, Mac Wayne Reed of Ennis, MT, brother, William D. Reed and his wife, Joanne of San Jose, CA, eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. No public ceremony will be held.
