Obituary for Mary Williams
Mary Williams May 27, 1928 - Aug. 28, 2011 Mary Williams passed away at her home in Brookings on Sunday, August 28, 2011. She was 83. Mary was born May 27, 1928 in Noti, Ore. to James and Lila (Armstrong) Haynes. She grew up and attended school there. Mary married Thomas C. Williams on September 9, 1946 in Eugene, Oregon. They moved to Brookings in 1981. Mary attended the Brookings Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed sewing and making blankets for her family; she was also fond of her cat, Salem, and collected cat memorabilia. Survivors include her sons, Don Williams of Pleasant Hill, OR, Steve Williams and his wife, Cyndi of Brookings, daughter, Lilla Folster of Chester, SC, ten grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, sister, Doris Swafford of Crow, OR. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, T.C. in 1999 and a son, Michael Williams. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1710 Gilbreth Rd., Burlingame, CA 94010-1795. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011 at 2:00pm at the Brookings Church of the Nazarene, 1600 Chetco Ave. Pastor Rick Green will officiate. A reception will follow there. The family would like to thank Mary's doctors, Coastal Home Health and Hospice nurses, and caregiver Shirley Bowden, for their part in making it possible for Mary to remain living in her home in her last years.
