Obituary for Mary Anne Stoddard
Mary Anne Stoddard June 12, 1944 – November 16, 2017
Mary Anne Stoddard passed away peacefully on November 16, 2017 in Brookings after a brief illness. Mary Anne was born June 12, 1944 To Elmer and Margaret Hemingway in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Macalester College with a teaching degree and married Kenneth R. Stoddard in 1965. Together they lived in St. Paul, Minnesota, Grand Rapid and Detroit, Michigan, and Gold Beach, OR until Kenneth’s death.
While in the Detroit area, Mary Anne earned her master’s degree and began working with special needs children. After their move to Oregon, Mary Anne started her employment with the Brookings-Harbor School District. She retired in 2006.
Mary Anne is survived by her siblings Bette, Bruce, Richard and David, and by several nieces and nephews in her family and Kenneth’s family. She was predeceased by her husband and her parents. At her request, no public services will be held. Donations may be made in her memory to the Brookings-Harbor Scholarship Foundation, P.O. Box 7673, Brookings, OR 97415.
