Obituary for Marty Bublitz
Martha Ann “Marty” Bublitz, 64, of Brookings, passed away in Crescent City, Calif. on March 4, 2013. Marty was born December 5, 1948 in Peoria, Illinois, one of four children to Milton and Dorothy (Deuell) Bublitz. She spent her early years there. Marty attended college where she majored in drafting. She spent most of her working years in the healthcare industry working as a CNA. She most enjoyed her time in home health and hospice work. Marty’s enjoyment of art was expressed in poetry that she had written, flowers and collecting different pieces of art. She also enjoyed walking on the beach and was an avid reader. Throughout this brief, unexpected illness the Marty and her family were most appreciative of the care given by the doctors and nurses at Sutter Coast Hospital. A special thanks to Carol and other ICU nurses. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Gitzel and Joe Vinar of Las Vegas, Nev., Rebecca and Jon Schlussler of Elk Grove, Calif., son, Fernando Cortes of Peoria, Ill, grandchildren, Soraya Vinar, Rachelle Angel, Ryan and Dylan Schlussler, great granddaughter, Na’Rya Stevens, mother, Dorothy Fry of Peoria, Ill, companion, Glen Bell of Brookings, sister and brother-in-law, Mary Stenger and Don Nelson of Bartonville, Ill., brother and sister-in-law, Vince and Cathy Bublitz of Brimfield, Ill., numerous nieces and nephews including Jeffery Stenger, Lisa Stark, Christopher Stenger, Tony Bublitz, Sarah Brattain and her cat, Butch. Marty was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Gwendolyn Bublitz. Memorial contributions may be made in Marty’s name to a beneficiary of choice. Marty never knew a stranger; she will be missed by family and many friends. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Condolences may be expressed online at www.redwoodmemorial.net.
