Obituary for Marjorie J. Mansur
Marjorie J. Mansur Aug. 21, 1934 – Oct. 10, 2017
Longtime Brookings resident, Marjorie J. Mansur, 83, went home to be with the Lord on October 10, 2017.
Marjorie was born August 21, 1934 in Sartell, Minn.. to John and Mary (Becker) Farvour. She was valedictorian of her high school graduating class. Marjorie moved to Brookings in 1953 where she married Merton L. Mansur. Together they started 3M Logging. In 1977, she started working for Lorings Lighthouse Sporting Goods and in 1982 she and Mert bought a school bus, filled it full of fishing tackle, and drove it to the river bars around Brookings. Two years later they sold the bus and moved all the fishing tackle into 3M (4M) Tackle shop on Lower Harbor Road. Her business had even been highlighted in several different publications. She eventually retired in 2015. She attended First Baptist Community Church in Brookings for many years. Marjorie enjoyed cooking, gardening and watching football. She also cherished spending time with her family and friends and the loyalty of her customers.
Survivors include her children, Clayton Mansur of Brookings, Malinda Morris and her husband, Steve, of Brookings, Marsha Strock and her husband, Jack, of Longview, Wash., Cheryl King and her husband, Jim, of Mt. Vernon, Wash.; eleven grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and 2 ½ great-great grandchildren; cousin and dearest friend, Joni Lavigne, of Brookings, dear friend, Dick O’Holleran, of Brookings. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Mert, son Mertie, daughter-in-law Susie Mansur, grandson Erick Strock, and great grandson Robert Sanchez.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017 at First Baptist Community Church, 607 Pacific Ave. in Brookings.
