Gold Beach resident Marilyn Stephens went home to the Lord on August 8, 2016; she was 76.

Marilyn was born in Portland, Oregon on September 22, 1939 to Melvin and Annita (Bevins) Mitts. She grew up in the Portland area, and married Richard Stephens on November 27, 1963 in Molalla, Oregon.

Marilyn worked a few years as a teacher at the Gold Beach High School. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gold Beach where she played the organ for 51 years. She was a member of the community choir for 35 years. Marilyn also loved music, sewing, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Richard, to whom she was happily married for almost 53 years. She is also survived by her children Richard Stephens and his wife Kim of Texas, Teresa Daniels of Idaho, Carlene Archuleta and her husband David of Idaho, Mira Meeds and her husband David of Oregon; brothers Nathan, Dennis and George Mitts, all of Oregon; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Harold. She will be missed by all who knew her.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, 29692 Hillcrest Street in Gold Beach. Memorial contributions may be made to the soup kitchen at the First Presbyterian Church. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
