Margie Jean Jacques was born October 5, 1926 in Killdeer, ND to Eddie Engebretson, Sr. and Lena Kinneberg Engebretson. She peacefully went to Heaven on October 21, 2012 with her family near. She married Clifton Lee “Red” Jacques in Bottineau, ND. Margie & Red moved to Brookings with their three children in 1955. She worked with Red as bookkeeper at Red’s Body Shop and later, Bad Road Salvage. She loved playing bingo, cooking, sewing, crocheting and coin collecting. She also enjoyed playing cards and it was always more fun with a wager, particularly if she won. Margie cherished her family and was proud of her Norwegian heritage. She was preceded in death by her husband Clifton “Red” Jacques, mother Lena Kinneberg Engebretson and her brother, Eddie Engebretson, Jr. She is survived by brother John Engebretson (Leola) of Coos Bay, OR and her loving children, Greg Jacques (Brenda) of Brookings, Candice Jones (Marvin) of Brookings and Deborah Dresen (Barry) of Brookings. She also thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as they were the light of her life. Surviving grandchildren include Angel McComb (Mike), Brian Jones, Vince Jacques (Rhonda), Ryan Howell (Julie), Josie Lawrence (Alex), Colin Jacques, Kara Clark, Tom Gilstrap, Brett Dresen, Nick Dresen and Amanda Dresen. She also leaves behind 17 great grandchildren: Gabe Jacques, Faith Jacques, Owen Jacques, Ben Howell, Gavin Howell, Sam Hayes, Rachel Hayes, Connor Clark, Alex Pruden, Spencer Pruden, Mitchell Pruden, Matthew Pruden (Courtney), Lucy Nading, Garrett Dresen, Addisyn Dresen, Cooper Dresen, Gabriella Dresen and great-great granddaughter Chloe Pruden. Margie, forever with a twinkle in her eye, was a consummate optimist and was never shy to give you her opinion. She had a passion for life and her smile will be missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 820 Old County Road in Brookings. Memorial contributions may be made to Coastal Home Health & Hospice, either by check to PO Box 493, Gold Beach, OR 97444 or by credit card to 1-800-535-9742.
