Obituary for Margaret "Muggs" Reeves
Margaret (Muggs) Reeves was born on November 6, 1921 in Rangoon Burma. Her early life was an adventure worthy of a movie. Her father was a Methodist minister who once met with Mahatma Gandhi in their house. She and her family moved from Rangoon to the United States during the Depression and then moved back to Rangoon when Margaret was a pre-teen. She then went to Mussoorie, India where she attended Woodstock boarding school. Then another move back to the United States to attend the University of Minnesota where she earned her Bachelor’s degree as well as an advanced degree in Nursing. Margaret served her country by joining the Army where she applied her profession in France and Germany. After the war, she raised four boys and provided them with love, wisdom and education. But Margaret didn’t stop at just her own family, she volunteered many years to working at a public school health clinic for disadvantaged people. Margaret and her husband retired to the Oregon South coast. But even in retirement, she was an active volunteer and supporter of numerous non-profit organizations. Margaret passed away on November 28, 2013. Services will be planned for the spring of 2014. The family asks that in lieu of sending flowers and in the spirit of her passion for education, please give to the Brookings Public Library, Southwest Oregon Community College or Southern Oregon Public Television.
