Obituary for Louise H Goulart
Louise H. Goulart was born in San Francisco Nov. 2, 1918. She was raised in Berkeley, Calif. In 1944, she married Abel C. Goulart on New Year’s Day. They were happily married for more than 50 years. Abel died in September, 1994. Louise and Abe had two daughters, Jeannine and Charlene. They raised their girls in Pleasant Hill, Calif. In 1974 Abe and Louise moved to Lebanon, Oregon to be closer to their families. Our mother was known for her smile and the joy she spread to others. Her family and faith were the two most important parts of her life. Louise loved working with children. Before she was married, Louise taught pre-school children, and continued to work with healthy and disabled children. Louise was delighted to be a full-time mom sharing her love for children’s literature, music, cooking and gardening. Mom continued to share her faith and caring ways the four years she spent at Curry Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Louise was a treasure to her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters Jeannine Housden of Brookings, Charlene Maguire and her husband Mike of Deep River, Ontario, Canada; granddaughters Deborah Allison; grandsons Brian VanBuskirk and Jason Housden, and Seth, Keith, and Brent Maguire; granddaughter Anna Maguire. Also surviving are 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Friday, April 20, at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 401 Fir St., in Brookings. Louise will be interred beside her husband at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lebanon.
