Obituary for Lorraine J. Quibell
Lorraine J. Quibell of Brookings, Ore., passed away at her home in the early morning of Aug. 28, 2014. She was 81 years old. Lorraine was born Dec. 24, 1932, in Little Falls, Minn., to Earl and Julie (Thrun) Miller. She grew up in Minnesota, and attended high school at Columbia Heights High School. On Sept. 26, 1970, Lorraine married Richard Quibell at the Little Brown Church of Sunol in California. They loved to travel together, and travelled all over Europe. Before her retirement, Lorraine was an administrative assistant in the financial industry, doing various jobs such as accounting and book keeping. In her free time, Lorraine loved cooking, gardening, fishing, and spending time with family. She was a lover of animals, particularly her cats. When she lived in Minnesota, Lorraine and Richard fed large flocks of ducks. They would go through 50 lbs of feed a week. Lorraine also loved to sing. She had a beautiful voice, and would sing while working around the house, and her eyes always danced. She was a kind, generous person, and was well-loved by family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Richard Quibell of Brookings; brother Larry Miller and his wife Diane of Brookings; brother Lyle Miller and his wife Jackie of Vacaville, Calif.; sister Lucy Dollar and her husband Frank of Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Julie Miller. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of one’s choice in Lorraine’s name. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1200 Easy St. in Brookings at a future date. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
