Obituary for Lola "L.V." Bishop
Lola Bishop, of Brookings, passed away in Crescent City, CA on October 30, 2011. She was 90. Lola was born July 26, 1921 in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Vernon and Georgia (Turley) McCarley. She married Walter Bishop in Oklahoma on November 27, 1937. They then moved to California and began a family. They moved to Arizona before moving to Myrtle Creek, OR where Lola worked as a grocery clerk and later as a meat cutter. They moved to Brookings in 1963. Lola was an active member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Harbor. She was known by many as a prayer warrior and could be called upon anytime with problems. She was the epitome of a grandma; she had great delight in spending time with her grandchildren including going to their games and activities. Lola also loved to read and do puzzles in her later years. Survivors include her son Ed Bishop and his wife, Betty of Harbor, daughter, Twila Davidson and her husband, Wes of Eugene, OR, grandchildren, John Bishop (Kris), Donnie Bishop, Brian Davidson (Jeannie), Phil Bishop (Terrie), Darren Davidson (Sue), Lonnie Bishop (Steffanie), Kristy McIntyre (Bill), seventeen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Walter and a son, Don Bishop. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, 15803 Hwy. 101 S., Brookings, OR 97415. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 10:30am at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, 15803 Hwy. 101 in Harbor. Pastors Richard Hadley and Jim Schultz will officiate. Private inurnment will be at W. J. Ward Memorial Cemetery in Brookings.
