Obituary for Linda St. Clair Baldwin
Linda St. Clair Baldwin, 70, of Brookings, passed away on July 11, 2017, in Brookings.
Linda was the daughter of Nadine Rae St. Clair and Frank Benjamin Bain, born April 2, 1947, in Santa Cruz, California.
Linda grew up with her brother Larry in a house their family built in Sam’s Valley. She graduated from Crater High School in 1965.
Linda moved to San Francisco in 1969, where she began her career as a florist working for Podesta Baldocchi on Grant Avenue. She successfully managed a store on Pier 39, and went to California Polytechnic, in San Luis Obispo, for Advanced Floral Design. Linda and Allan Bowman had a daughter, Shanee, in 1971.
She moved to Denver, Colorado, in 1982 to work for Lehrer’s Flowers and managed one of 30 stores.
In 1992, Linda moved to Brookings where she purchased That Special Touch Florist in 1994. She developed a line of Oregon food products and in 2001 attended beauty school to get her nail license as a part of her flower shop. In 2010 she went on to work for Chetco Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician after taking online classes. After four years she decided to open her own coffee stand business, Bean Buzz, in 2015.
Linda was tremendously loved by her family and friends. She loved painting, dancing to new country music and playing with her dog Darby. She had an appetite for life, for laughter and friendship. She lived with gumption, with an excitement for learning, and she brought so much warmth to those who knew and loved her.
Linda is survived by her grandchildren Sunny, Mindy and Cory Harrison, and her great-granddaughter Vayda Rae. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Larry; and her daughter Shanee Bowman Harrison.
A Celebration of life for Linda will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, in the Beach Room at the Lucky 7 Casino, 350 North Indian Road, Smith River.
