Obituary for Leroy W. Taylor
Leroy W. Taylor passed away at a local care facility in Brookings following a lengthy illness on March 27, 2012. He was 76. Leroy was born June 27, 1935 in Cottage Grove, Ore. to Floyd and Clarice (Coltrane) Taylor. He later moved to the Rogue Valley where he worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad out of their Ashland depot until its closing. While in Ashland, Leroy married Roberta Bradford in May of 1967. They moved to Brookings shortly after that where Leroy pursued his real passion: fishing. Leroy owned four boats over the course of his career: “Busy Bee”, “Bobbi Lee”, “Anita” and “Eileen”. He also enjoyed hunting, especially elk in eastern Oregon. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie of Brookings, sons, Lawrence Taylor of Portland and Don Taylor of Brookings, daughter, Deena of Coos Bay, OR and Tamara Kittredge of Vashon Island, Wash., stepsons, Dino Banco of Joshua Tree, Calif. , Tony Banco of Brookings, Loren Banco of New Jersey, five grandchildren including Levi Taylor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Leroy’s name to the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 N.W. 9th Avenue / Bob Hope Road, Miami, Florida 33136 or Alzheimer's Association National Office, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601. At his request, no ceremony will be held.
