In Loving Memory
Colonel Leonard H. Gaetz, Retired USAF
Passed away peacefully at his “oceanside paradise” in Brookings, OR on January 21st, 2020 at the age of 79 surrounded by his beloved bride and family. He was born on August 14, 1940 in Lakewood, Ohio. Leonard joined the United States Air Force in 1959 and served his country for 36 years before retiring as a Colonel in 1995.
Leonard was a cherished member of Brookings Church of the Nazarene. He was a mentor of men. He was frequently seen in Brookings and at Chetco Point walking his beloved dog Mac.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife Constance Gaetz; sons Jeffrey Gaetz (Cathy) and Ronald Gaetz (Penny); stepsons Tod Bowser (Ruthie) and Lance Bowser (Heather), his sister Judy Beasley (Tom); 19 grandchildren and 10 grandchildren. He was widowed by Donna Gaetz.
A memorial service for Leonard will be held on Wednesday, January 29th at 2 pm at the Brookings Church of the Nazarene.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brookings Church of the Nazarene where a fund for youth programs will be established in Leonard’s name.
