Obituary for Layton N. Moore
Layton Noel Moore, 55, of Gold Beach, passed away on December 23, 2013, after a 3-year courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Layton was born April 6, 1958 in Gold Beach to Donald (Ole) and Jean (Eisenbach) Moore. He grew up in Gold Beach, and attended Gold Beach and Myrtle Point High Schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1976 and made a 20+-year career in the military, and was discharged in 2001. After his discharge from the military, Layton worked at Pelican Bay State Prison in Crescent City, Calif., for 12 years. When he wasn’t working, Layton enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and traveling. Uncle Rod Moore says that Layton was one hell of a horseshoe player. Layton married Rebecca R. Lang on Aug. 24, 1996. He is survived by his wife Rebecca; mother Jean Moore; sons Kenneth J. Moore, Robert W. Moore, Jonathan D. Moore, Dexter L. Moore, and James M. Miller of Gold Beach; daughter Jenna M. Boggs and her husband Johnathan of Grants Pass, Ore., and daughter Amanda R. Krieger of Gold Beach; brother Doug Moore and his wife Kelly of Gold Beach, and brother Donnie Moore and his wife Stephanie of Roseburg, Ore.; sister Linda Murray and her husband John of Myrtle Point, Ore. and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Donald (Ole), and nephew Brandon Moore in 1984. Layton Moore may you rest in peace. You are forever in our hearts. A memorial service will be held Sat. Jan. 4, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Gold Beach Resort, 29232 Ellensburg Ave., Gold Beach, Ore. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
